Training workshop on strengthening mechanisms for implementing the provisions of the Aarhus Convention

On November 19-20, 2021, a training workshop on strengthening the mechanisms for implementing the provisions of the Aarhus Convention was held at the Serena Hotel in Dushanbe.

The workshop was attended by representatives of all five Aarhus Centers from Dushanbe, Khujand, Bokhtar, Khorog and Garm, representatives of other public organizations, environmental authorities, as well as the chief specialist of the Main Department of Environmental Protection and the editor-in-chief of the regional newspaper "Sogdiyskaya Pravda" as permanent partners of the Aarhus Center in Khujand.

The workshop included presentations on the rules and principles of the Aarhus Convention, the right to environmental information and mechanisms for its implementation in the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan, the main forms of public participation in environmental decision-making, the grounds for seeking justice in accordance with the Aarhus Convention, extrajudicial (administrative) and features of the method of judicial protection, as well as presentations of the Aarhus Centers about their activities.

It should be noted that this event is dedicated to strengthening the Aarhus Centers and making a significant contribution to raising environmental awareness of the population of the republic and meeting the requirements of the Action Plan "State Comprehensive Development Program for Environmental Education and Education of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2025".
