Planting seedlings on the territory of the Republican dump of toxic chemicals in the Vakhsh district of the Khatlon region

On November 27, 2021, at the initiative of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan the event was organized at the republican station for the disposal of toxic chemical waste, the participants of which planted more than 3000 seedlings of shady trees.

The event was attended by the management and employees of the central office of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Main Department of Environmental Protection in the Khatlon region, industry workers from 25 cities and districts of the region, volunteers of the Peshsaf public organization from Dushanbe and local residents. This initiative was fully supported by Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

The planting of seedlings was carried out in accordance with the rules recommended by specialists. To ensure the growth and further care of the seedlings, about 5 km of the water supply line has been laid.

The adoption of the seedlings and their development in the future could help improve the environment and the attractiveness of the area, officials said.

On the initiative of the Committee, such practical measures are taken annually to protect and improve the environment through landscaping, planting trees along roadsides, in gardens, parks, cemeteries, as well as in specially protected areas.
