Meeting of the Chairman of the Committee with the Minister of the Environment of Qatar at COP26 in Glasgow

In the framework of the 26th Conference of the Parties held in Glasgow, Great Britain from November 1 to 12, 2021, on the sidelines of the events held a meeting of the Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Sheralizoda B.A. with the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Qatar by Dr. Faleh Nasser Al Thani.

In the framework of this bilateral meeting, the parties discussed a number of mutually interesting issues, including the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, to declare 2025 the International Year of Glacier Protection, which aroused the interest and positive reaction of Mr. Al Thani.

Also, the parties discussed the development and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Qatar, the development of ecotourism between countries and a number of other issues.

The parties noted the mutually beneficial interest and outlined concrete steps to expand cooperation on the above issues.
