Regional unity in the fight to preserve the climate
On November 2, 2021, in Glasgow (Scotland, UK), within the framework of COP26, a side event (side event) on the theme "Regional unity in the fight to preserve the climate" was held together with partners in the region.This event was attended by the Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Sheralizoda B.A., Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan S. Brekeshov, Chairman of the Presidium of the Association of Environmental Organizations A. Nazarbayeva, as well as representatives of the expert community countries of Central Asia and international organizations.
The main theme of the event is “Regional Unity in the Struggle for Climate Preservation”. In this context, the Chairman of the Committee noted that the Republic of Tajikistan, within the framework of its obligations to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, this year officially submitted to the UNFCCC secretariat its updated NDC (Nationally Determined Contributions), the main goal of which is to support sustainable and effective development. taking into account climate change, environmental and socio-economic problems.
At the end of this event, the Chairman of the Committee and the Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed the Charter on the Green Bridge Partnership Program.
The purpose of the side event is to present the region as interesting from the point of view of "green" investment projects, open to promising, new technologies, to promote the strengthening of regional dialogue, exchange of information and knowledge to support the system of making science-based and climate-sustainable decisions, as well as searching opportunities to ensure joint implementation of climate projects with international financial institutions and development agencies in Central Asia.
The Conference of the Parties is being held in 2021 in Glasgow and brings together representatives of government agencies, expert groups, scientific spheres, international organizations and the business community on climate change issues.
