DEPARTMENT OF MONITORING AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY OF THE COMMITTEE
Promotion of a unified state environmental policy, state environmental monitoring, rational use of natural resources and economic mechanisms of environmental management is carried out by the Committee for Monitoring and Environmental Policy. For the implementation of the state environmental policy of the Republic of Tajikistan and the development of the industry, state and sectoral programs have been developed and adopted by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
ADMINISTRATION (GENERAL, HR, LEGAL, SPECIAL WORK AND ECONOMIC SECTORS)
The administration is one of the main and key structures of the central office of the Committee, which includes the areas of registration, control, and export of documents, human resources, legal services, construction of facilities, and structures. DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING, ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE
The Department of Planning, Accounting, and Finance of the Committee was established by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated April 24, 2008, No. 189. The department is an integral part of the Committee and regulates the planning and accounting activities of the Committee. The department operates under the auspices of the Chairman of the Committee and in accordance with the Regulations on the Committee and the job descriptions of employees.
DEPARTMENT OF STATE CONTROL OF USE AND PROTECTION OF WATER RESOURCES
The protection of water resources of the republic is one of the priority tasks of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The Department of State Control over the Use and Protection of Water Resources (formerly the Special Inspectorate for State Control over the Use and Protection of Water Resources) was established by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Tajik SSR dated August 15, 1988, No. 234 "On the Management Plan of the State Committee for Environmental Protection".
DEPARTMENT OF STATE CONTROL OF USE AND PROTECTION OF PLANT AND ANIMAL WORLD
The department of state control over the use and protection of plants and animal world (previously - the Special Inspectorate for state control over the use and protection of flora and fauna) was established by a decree of the Council of Ministers of the Tajik SSR dated August 15, 1988. Favorable conditions have been created to regulate the sale and use of rare and endangered species of plants and animals, as well as to attract foreign investment and implement special programs for the conservation and development of biodiversity in the country. DEPARTMENT OF STATE CONTROL OF USE AND PROTECTION OF ATMOSPHERIC AIR
The main activity of the department is to promote state control over the regulation and harmonization of air emissions in accordance with the requirements of legislation and other regulations in this area. The Department of State Control over the Use and Protection of the Atmosphere (formerly the Special Inspectorate for State Control over the Use and Protection of the Atmosphere) was established by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Tajik SSR dated August 15, 1988, No. 234 "On the Management Plan of the State Committee for Environmental Protection".
DEPARTMENT OF STATE CONTROL OF USE, LAND PROTECTION AND WASTE MANAGEMENT
For Tajikistan, a landlocked country, one of the most pressing environmental issues is land conservation and waste disposal.
The department is entrusted with the following tasks:
• Adoption of normative legal acts governing legal relations in the field of waste management and control over their implementation;
• Determining the principles of organizing and conducting state control, conducting inspections in the field of waste management;
• Licensing of activities in the field of hazardous waste management;
• development, approval and implementation of rules and standards defining the procedure for safe waste management and requirements for waste safety for the environment and human health;
• organization of state accounting and reporting on waste management, informing the population in the field of waste management; organization and maintenance of waste inventory (cadastre).
SECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
The Sector of International Relations of the Committee carries out extensive activities to coordinate the cooperation of the Committee with international organizations and organizations, foreign missions, UN conventions in ensuring compliance with environmental standards and increasing the level of environmental protection.
SECTOR OF SPECIALLY PROTECTED NATURAL AREAS, NATIONAL NATURAL PARKS
The state institution "Specially Protected Natural Areas" was created by the Decree of the former Council of Ministers of the Republic of Tajikistan in accordance with No. 267 dated July 20, 1992 in order to ensure the stability of the biological balance of nature, the protection of rare species of flora and fauna, specific natural ecosystems, biological monitoring, ecological tourism, mountaineering and research work on the analysis and assessment of processes affecting natural ecosystems, the former National Park of Tajikistan (now the State Agency for Protected Areas).
DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION OF GORNO-BADAKHSHAN AUTONOMOUS REGION
The environmental protection department of GBAO was established in 1988 as a subdivision of the State Committee for Nature Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan. Thanks to the independence of the country and complete national peace and stability in GBAO, our country is becoming more beautiful and prosperous day by day. This is evidenced by the construction of a new building for the Department of Environmental Protection. The Council has made significant progress since independence. Currently, 43 civil servants work in the Department and its subdivisions. Thanks to these divisions and the improvement of good working conditions, the department has complete control over the region's natural resources.
DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION OF THE SOGD REGION
The Sogd region with its unique nature, numerous sources of surface and groundwater, juniper mountains, healing springs, and other natural resources is a special part of the country's environment.
The environmental authorities of the Sogd region were established at the end of 1988 on the basis of the Inspectorate of the Syrdarya River Basin of the former Leninabad Regional Water Administration (now the Sogd Region).
DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION OF KHATLON REGION
In order to preserve, protect, cultivate and enhance the country's unique flora and fauna, 4 state nature reserves, 2 state reserves and one national park have been created in the Khatlon region, each of which has its own characteristics and is included in the group of specially protected natural areas. One of the largest toxic waste dumps in the Vakhsh district of the Khatlon region was created in 1970 on an area of 6 hectares, where, until 1991, more than 7 thousand tons of used and prohibited pesticides were buried.
DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION OF DUSHANBE CITY
Dushanbe is the political, cultural, economic, trade, scientific and spiritual center of our country and, since the capital of the country connects the regions of the country, is the venue for many international events, negotiations, high-level meetings with foreign countries. The Dushanbe Department of Environmental Protection acts as a supervisory authority over the implementation of environmental legislation in the capital.
