Participation of the Chairman of the Committee in the high-level event "A Moment of Nature

                                                        


On July 19 this year at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York City, at the initiative of the President of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, Mr. Abdullah Shahid, a high-level discussion entitled "Moment for Nature" was held on the issue of protecting the environment from today's threats and challenges.

The President of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly Mr. Shahidd, UN Secretary General Mr. Guterres Antonio and the President of the UN Economic and Social Council Mr. Kelapile C. participated in the high-level discussion and highlighted the importance of the event in combating the effects of climate change and protecting the environment.

It should be noted that the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan under the leadership of the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Sheralizoda Bahodur Ahmadjon took part in this event. 

The Chairman of the Committee acted as a panelist in the first segment of the event titled "Developing Coordinated Responses of the Cooperative System to Combat Global Challenges" and mentioned three major global threats, including climate change, loss of biodiversity and environmental pollution.

In his address, the Chair spoke about the impact of climate change on the environmental situation in Central Asia, particularly in Tajikistan, and the measures the country is taking to address it.

The Chairman of the Committee also mentioned the global initiatives of the country to promote and solve water-climatic problems globally and emphasized the importance of another initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon, to declare 2025 as the International Year of Glacier Protection and establish an international fund for glacier conservation.
