On October 7, 2019, residents of Bartang jamoat in Rushan district had notified the Environmental Protection Department of GBAO about a snow leopard attack on a household of Mr. D. Davlatshoev, this jamoat resident. To clarify the case, representatives of the Environmental Protection Department, division of ecology and tourism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and GBAO, and Aga Khan Foundation specialists visited that place of incident. It turned out that on October 7, 2019, a snow leopard entered a shepherd of Davlatshoevs in Ruzj village of Bartang jamoat and destroyed 7 (seven) heads of small livestock, causing material and economic losses to the family. Conversation was held by the working group with the villagers related to the need for improving the maintenance and protection of domestic animals by strengthening the windows and doors of livestock sheds with iron bars.
Snow leopard was put in an iron cage, transported to 7 km further from the village and released in the mountains by the working group.
